Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind;
. . .
Nobody grows old merely by a number of years;
We grow old by deserting our ideals. Samuel Ullman

Dear dad: I am living my daily life while keeping in mind what you said: "Be prepared and work hard." I believe that working hard for my everyday life is the mission throughout my entire life as my life has been given by God. Thank you and I love you, Dad. Hiroki
Dear Mr. Takeuchi: As we are still deeply immersed in the past months of fears of losing you, we are slowly making our way out of that horror and beginning to recall your presence. I can still clearly remember what charms and warmth you expressed through your serene composure and your gentle smiles. Even though I did not make it to send you away in December, and I could not hear your last words in person, somehow I knew what you would have said. This slide-video below is what I imagined you would have said to your beloved spouse.
And I imagine, you would have chanted this poem to us, to help us pass through the difficult time.
Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Let it not be a death but completeness. Let love melt into memory and pain into songs. Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest. Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night. Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence. I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way. (by Rabindranath Tagore)
While there are so much to remember about you, your life, and the moments that we shared, I am most grateful to you for having brought up such a wonderful and kind son, Hiroki. We will continue to live and guide our lives the way you would have wanted us, and we will always have you in our hearts. Love, Hong.
